At a recent American Bar Association Tax Section conference in San Antonio, the IRS warns practitioners that UBS is just the beginning of their offshore initiative to recover unreported income and impose penalties for undisclosed acounts. The IRS warns taxpayers should not take comfort that their offshore account is not in Switzerland, as their program and investigations will be expanding to other foreign jurisdictions.
