Chicoine & Hallett, P.S., focuses its practice on federal and state tax matters, both civil and criminal, and on white-collar criminal defense. Members of the firm are frequently called on by attorneys and CPAs to provide opinions regarding tax reporting positions, such as tax consequences of divorce and civil lawsuit judgments and settlements. Members of the firm have been employed as expert witnesses in federal and state litigation relating to tax issues and Internal Revenue Service procedures. The firm is particularly known for representing individuals and corporations at all administrative levels before the Internal Revenue Service, the Washington State Department of Revenue, and in the federal court system, including the United States Tax Court. The firm successfully briefed and argued a highly controversial tax issue before the Supreme Court of the United States.

Our Office

Darrell Hallett and Robert Chicoine founded Chicoine & Hallett, P.S., in 1983. The two have worked together for more than a quarter century as trial attorneys in public and private practice. John Colvin joined the firm in the fall of 1991 upon graduation from the University of Washington School of Law. Nicole Chicoine joined the firm in 1999 upon graduation from the University of Washington School of Law. Cori Flanders-Palmer joined the firm in 2004. The firm also employs former Internal Revenue Service Special Agents and Civil Revenue Agents to assist in the representation of clients.

Members of Chicoine & Hallett, P.S., serve on the faculty of the Graduate School of Taxation for the University of Washington School of Law, participate in Continuing Legal Education seminars, lecture on federal taxation matters and white-collar criminal defense, and serve in pro bono capacities.

Chicoine & Hallett, P.S., has the highest possible rating (AV) for attorneys in the Martindale-Hubbell Law Directory and is listed in the Bar Register of Preeminent Lawyers.
