Mr. Hallett is a founder of Chicoine & Hallett, P.S. From 1980 to 1983, Mr. Hallett was a Special Trial Judge with the United States Tax Court, where he heard and decided more than 350 tax cases involving all areas of tax law.
From 1973 to 1980, Mr. Hallett was an Assistant District Counsel and Senior Trial Attorney with the District Counsel, Internal Revenue Service, Seattle, Washington. His responsibilities included representing the Internal Revenue Service in tax litigation, overseeing and directing trial lawyers in the Office of District Counsel, acting as liaison with the Office of Regional Commissioner, and advising Special Agents of the Criminal Investigation Division. During this period, Mr. Hallett was also a Special Assistant United States Attorney, assisting in the prosecution of federal criminal tax cases in the United States District Court for the Western District of Washington.
Mr. Hallett was a Trial Attorney with the Tax Division, United States Department of Justice, from 1968 to 1972, where he was responsible for representing the government in federal tax litigation in United States District Courts throughout the country.
Mr. Hallett has been a faculty member of the Graduate School of Taxation for the University of Washington School of Law. He served as an instructor for the Golden Gate University Graduate School of Taxation. He is a frequent lecturer on federal taxation subjects, participating in presentations on behalf of the American Bar Association Tax Section, the Washington State Bar Association, the Washington Society of CPAs, the University of Washington School of Law, the Northwest Tax Institute, and the International Association of Financial Planning, in addition to numerous other state bar associations, state CPA societies, and universities throughout the United States.
Mr. Hallett earned a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting at the University of Washington in 1965 and a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Washington School of Law in 1968. He is listed in The Best Lawyers in America.
